Full Ash Moon Weekend

Wanted to share from my two meditation companions for this weekend’s Full Moon, and some of the magic that came through as I contemplated them~

According to Blake Octavian Blair, this weekend is known as Ash Moon, in reverence of the Celtic Month of the Ash Tree. Pretty cool, right? If that’s new info~on the old Celt Wheel of the Year the months are named by a tree. So this is the Moon of the Ash Tree, bringing us “the reminder that we have planned long enough–it is time to move forward with action steps to make our plans and desires a reality! The energies of the Ash Tree invite you to expand your horizons as you grow tall, as the ash tree does, reaching your branches high toward the Moon.” She goes on to note that Ash is considered a Guardian in folklore. (Llewellyn’s Witches’ Datebook, 2021)

This info came to life for me when I then read the other companion piece I am using this Wheel, Moonology, by Yasmin Boland. For this weekend’s Full Moon, she counsels finding a balance “between the side of you that wants to stare at the stars all night and dream your way through the day, and the part that knows the i’s must be dotted and the t’s crossed.” The insight that came for me: like the Ash Tree. Know what practicalities need to be tended~these are strong roots. From there stand tall as your branches will spread and reach, and Dream as Big as the Sky

~Happiest Full Ash Moon, loves. Be good to You! It’s how we learn to be good to everyone else, too.

I didn’t know that about the Celtic moon names; I’ll have to check that out. I wasn’t really connecting with the traditional moon names I knew and was considering making up my own. I love trees though and all things Celtic! A blessed Ash Moon to you as well 🌕
